I wake up in the morning and check my iphone to see what time it is. Addicted to information that I am, I grab the ipad and go on twitter to discover that Steve Jobs has passed away. If you don't know who Steve Jobs is...
Is this ringing a bell yet? I never knew him personally. I was never really interested in his history and what he did, to be honest. Until I had to study about the Apple company at Uni. What was on paper declared him to be a bit of a 'I-do-things-my-way' sorta guy. What really intruiged me was his 2005 Stanford commencement speech...he's not even a college graduate and he succeeded. How is that not inspirational?
On that note, I actually had that ipod featured in the picture. My dad who is a bit of a gadget (and apple) freak upgraded his music player and passed his 40 GB ipod to me. It was heavy, I'll give you that much but it was awesome.
Having music wherever I went was like an epiphany. Listening to Il Divo (or other emo teenage music of choice) under the covers during a storm. Also thanks to the ipod, I didn't have to listen the constant replay of songs on the radio:). Granted, I could have gotten a different sort of music player. Fate just declared my dad an apple freak.
Steve Jobs was also at the helm for when Pixar came up with some of the most memorable animated movies during his time there. "To infinity and beyond" has got to be one of the most quotable lines from 'Toy Story'.
From the mac vs pc ads to the way that creative content like music is now created and distributed, Jobs was responsible for a sorta revolution. Let's hope he'll inspire more people to go after their dreams.
RIP Mr.Jobs, you'll be creating in another world now.
Come on people, I'd like to hear what you have to say about this man, apple and perhaps what you foresee the future holds...
Till next time, sugar twirl with a solemn sign off.
