Top 3 animated cartoon series of the 80's

So for my first post, I thought I'd do a bit of a top 3 animated cartoon series things. Not just any cartoon series though. I'm talking about cartoons from the 80's!

Ok, ok, you're probably thinking about the shoulder pads, the bright colours and *cough* the hair *cough* but hey, the 80's were a pretty cool time to be in. Breakfast Club anyone? So here are my top 3 80's cartoon picks (in no particular order, I can't pick 0-0).

1) Jem and the Holograms (1985-1988)

'Jem and the Holograms' follows a band called, what else? 'Jem and the Holograms'. The name does not disappoint though as there is use of holograms and pretty cool technology. Excuse me, where can I get myself those holographic projection earrings? Early on we're introduced to 'The Misfits', whom become the bands arch enemy. They've got a lot of spunk and most of the times, they tend to sing some of the better songs. Don't believe me? Take a look.

Lessons on life splashed with colour and music in every possible direction. Outrageous!

2) Thundercats (1985-1990)

They've remade this into a brand new series for 2011. Proof of how awesome this show really is? Yeap, I believe so. 'Thundercats' centre around the Thunderians (Cat like humanoid aliens) who have lost their home and now have to make do with life on a new planet. Of course, there's the evil enemy, Mumm-Ra, who wants that blasted sword that the hero, lion-o has. It's a series that most boys can relate to as it depicts their struggle to become men. Anyway, cue catchy theme song!

I'm a big fan of the 80's version but the new series has got me hooked too:). Thundercats Ho!

3) Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) (1983 -1985)

Started out with the popular role-playing game and before you know it, there was a tv series. The series follows a group of teenagers who get sucked into the realm of 'Dungeons and Dragons', thanks to an amusement park ride (Well, they did seek adrenaline...).

There's an acrobat, a cavalier, and even a barbarian. There's the dungeon master too. Personally, the appeal lies with the interesting mix of characters more than anything else. Eric, the cavalier, is pretty funny to watch.

I still have no concept of the actual role-playing game but ah well, till that momentous day comes, I'll continue watching the series.

There you have it...My top 3 80's cartoon series! Purely on the basis that I enjoy them and they were part of my childhood. Honestly, that's probably why I still watch it on youtube too.

So what cartoons of the 80's holds a special place in your heart? Do share *smiles sweetly*.

Till next post, this is Sugar Twirl signing off!
